Sherbatov MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Center offers Jiu Jitsu, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Muay Thai, Olympic Wrestling, Boxing, Self Defense and Fitness Cardio. Classes are offered in a friendly environment where respect is developed as well as a sporting attitude, going far beyond power and brutality. Members can expect excellent training which could be beneficial to them in all aspects of their lives.
Boris et Yoni Sherbatov are the owners and were born in Moscow, Russia. Their journey began with Olympic Taekwondo and went on from there. Boris, who is the oldest of the two siblings, is a three time Canadian Champion, five time Quebec Champion and has won several other competitions including Brazilian Jui-Jitsu and Muay Thai tournaments. The younger and just as impressive Yoni is a seven time Quebec Champion and has also won various other competitions such as World Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, Greco-Roman Wrestling, North American Abu Dhabi just to name a few.
Extensive training makes these brothers very well-rounded mixed martial artists. In 1994 they were introduced to Thai-Jui-Jitsu which is a complete Martial Art. It combines the most effective forms of stand up and ground aspects to maximise the effectiveness of the arts. Sherbatov MMA is a gym for all ages and skill levels. There is a great class for children of all ages. During our visit, we could tell that the young people were having loads of fun while learning valuable skills. The atmosphere is friendly and there is so much to do!
The class we really appreciate at Sherbatov MMA is the Street Self Defense headed by an EX Russian Secret Service member. He really knows how to teach students self defense techniques, known as Systema/Krav Maga, that can be used in everyday life. Just witnessing how he controls this huge opponent is more than impressive!
SHERBATOV MMA Training Center is a very well rounded school which offers multi-diciplinary techniques and the equiptment to train with. They have a full-size MMA Cage with plenty of matted areas. Boxing ring with heavy bags fill the gym for those wanting to train their stand-up. Brand new Atlantis equiptment for weight training and cardio. For anyone in the area it is the ideal choice for training and perfecting all combat skills. All age groups and skill levels are welcome.
